Socio-economic rights include right to education, right to housing, right to livelihood, and the right to health amongst others. This involves the State providing resources to those deprived of them. In a socio-economic rights case, the court would order the State to provide the resource in question to the litigants. For instance, a displaced slum dweller, could move the Court seeking their right to housing, and the Court could order the State to provide them housing.
Civil and political rights includes freedoms such as the right to free speech and the right against arbitrary detention amongst others. This typically involves the State not interfering with or restraining with the enjoyment of these rights.
